Reminds me of 'Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind' as well as Anthony Gormley's 'Angel of the North'. Beautiful work! Lovely light detail on the smaller branch of the windmill.

Nice and yes I know it is just a drawing but I just like to point out that it would have a tendency to stall out when in a balancing position in the wind. The easiest way to undo this is to curve the wings so one will act as a scoop while the other one acts as a slope to the wind. An example of this would be a Savonius turbine.

Or maybe the sails are rigged so they're loose from one side and taut from the other. Still, less efficient than an angled or curved wing.

Correct, thought that too at first, but considering the size of those blades I think the momentum alone of one of those sails snapping back in place would just destroy the windmill entirely if not over time through severe vibrations and metal fatigue.
